Odoo groups its partners into tiers. They are a useful first filter but are often misread. This guide explains what the tiers measure and how to use them next to the other signals on a partner profile.
What the tiers mean according to odoo.com
As of October 2026, odoo.com's become-a-partner page describes four levels. Learning is the entry level with sandbox access and training material. Ready, Silver and Gold are performance-based; the thresholds below are those odoo.com publishes for new Enterprise users per year, certified resources and customer retention.
| Level | New Enterprise users per year | Certified resources | Retention rate |
|---|---|---|---|
| Learning | none stated | none stated | none stated |
| Ready | 10 | 1 | none stated |
| Silver | 75 | 3 | 70% |
| Gold | 300 | 6 | 80% |
odoo.com also states that the annual partner fee is lower for Learning than for the other three levels, and that Silver and Gold unlock extra benefits such as co-sponsored events. Check the page for current figures; Odoo can change them.
What the tiers do and do not tell you
- They are mainly a sales-volume signal: how many Enterprise users a partner brings to Odoo each year.
- They are not a quality guarantee. A high-volume partner may run many standard projects; a small one may be excellent in one domain.
- They say nothing about your industry, your country's accounting rules or the team assigned to you.
- The thresholds are minimums, so two Gold partners can differ widely in size.
The tiers compared with our data
Medians across the partners we list in each tier. References and certified experts are as shown on odoo.com.
| Tier | Partners | Median references | Median certified experts | Median retention | Median project users |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Gold | 29 | 65 | 6 | 96% | 21 |
| Silver | 35 | 26 | 2 | 97% | 11 |
| Ready | 128 | 4 | 1 | 100% | 7 |
Note: we count certified experts on the newest Odoo version only, while odoo.com's requirement counts certified people more broadly — so a partner can meet the tier requirement and still show fewer experts here.
Gold partners have clearly more references and larger projects. Median retention, however, is similar across all three tiers, which is why the tier alone should not decide.
Partners per country
| Country | Total | Gold | Silver | Ready |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Germany | 99 | 12 | 22 | 65 |
| Austria | 34 | 5 | 4 | 25 |
| Switzerland | 59 | 12 | 9 | 38 |
When a Ready partner can be the better choice
- Small projects: a partner whose typical project has a handful of users is often a closer fit than a firm built for hundreds.
- Niche expertise: a specialist may know your industry or a local standard better than a large generalist.
- Attention: in a small firm, a small project can be a priority rather than filler.
When Gold matters
- Large or multi-country rollouts with many users and integrations.
- Projects that need several certified experts at once, for example finance, manufacturing and development.
- Long programmes where team depth and staff continuity matter.
How to use the tier
Treat the tier as a starting filter, then check references in your industry and certified experts on the current version. The practical steps are in how to choose an Odoo partner, and our criteria are described on how we rank. To get a shortlist for your size and industry, answer a few questions to get matched.
Frequently asked questions
- Is a Gold partner better than a Ready partner?
- Not automatically. Gold mainly signals a high volume of new Odoo Enterprise users sold per year. A Ready partner can be the better fit for a small project or a niche need; judge references, certified experts and project size.
- What is the difference between Learning and Ready?
- According to odoo.com, Learning is the entry level for companies starting out, while Ready, Silver and Gold are performance-based levels with thresholds for sales and certified resources.
- Do higher tiers cost customers more?
- The tier is not a price list, and odoo.com does not tie it to customer prices. Ask every partner for a quote against the same brief.
